Closing meeting and seminar of the SCforH 2020-22 project held in Belgium

As part of the project “Creating mechanisms for continuous implementation of the Sports Club for Health guidelines in the European Union”, the Sports Club for Health (SCforH) Consortium organised two final events: the Closing SCforH Project Team Meeting and the SCforH Seminar.

The Closing SCforH Project Team Meeting was held on the 22nd of November, 2022 in Leuven, Belgium and attended by 17 project team members from 12 countries. The meeting included presentations and discussions on project outcomes, with emphasis on the development of project-end reports and SCforH Resolution─the documents that will guide the future work of the SCforH Consortium.

The SCforH Seminar was held on the 23rd of November, 2022 in Brussels, Belgium as a satellite event of the Moving People – Moving Europe 2022 conference organised by the International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA). The seminar was attended by 69 stakeholders in the sports sector, including representatives of the European Commission. The seminar included eight presentations and a fruitful discussion involving all attendees.

The organisation of the events has been generously supported and co-funded by the European Commission, Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) through an Erasmus+ Collaborative partnerships grant. Three Sports Club for Health (SCforH) events in September attended by >180 participants

In September 2022, three events were organised as part of the third international Sports Club for Health (SCforH) project entitled “Creating mechanisms for continuous implementation of the Sports Club for Health guidelines in the European Union”.

A symposium titled Sports Club for Health (SCforH) approach: evidence on importance and examples of implementation activities was held in Nice, France, on September 01, as part of the HEPA Europe conference. It was attended by >40 participants.

The International Conference for Sports Associations and Clubs: Improving Health Through Sport was held in Zagreb, Croatia, on September 22, at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Kinesiology.

The Conference brought together approximately 130 participants from sports clubs and associations, government institutions, science, and higher education. It included six invited lectures, a panel discussion with leading Croatian experts in sports promotion, and SCforH workshop, followed by a lunch for the attendees and an informal exchange of experiences.

On September 23, the 5th SCforH Project Team Meeting was held at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Kinesiology. Sixteen Project Members attended the Meeting and discussed about the progress of a range of activities within the project.

Invitation for International conference for sports associations and clubs: Improving health through sport

We are pleased to invite you to the International Conference for Sports Associations and Clubs: Improving Health through Sport, which will be held at the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb on September 22, 2022.

The goal of the conference is to present the European movement “Sports Club for Health” and to provide information to sports federations and clubs on how to improve the availability and quality of health-enhancing sports activities.

Sports Club for Health (SCforH) symposia attended by nearly 200 participants… and there is more to come

As part of the third international Sports Club for Health (SCforH) project entitled “Creating mechanisms for continuous implementation of the Sports Club for Health guidelines in the European Union”, a working group led by Professor Sylvia Titze, Karl-Franzens University of Graz and Réka Veress, Hungarian School, University and Leisure Sport Federation organised three international symposia to increase the awareness of the SCforH approach among various stakeholders in the European sports sector.

The first symposium, held in November 2021 and intended for the representatives of sports clubs and associations, was attended by 116 participants. The second symposium, held in May 2022 and intended for various current and future (e.g. students enrolled in related courses) stakeholders in the sports sector, was attended by 76 participants. A total of eight experts in the field of sport and physical activity promotion contributed to the symposia with their presentations on the SCforH approach and related examples of good practice.

The third symposium entitled “Sports Club for Health (SCforH) approach: evidence on importance and examples of implementation activities” will be held as part of the 11th Conference of HEPA Europe, in Nice (France). The conference is scheduled for 31st Aug – 2nd Sep, 2022. The symposium will include presentations on: [i] the findings of an updated systematic review on health benefits of different sport disciplines; [ii] Hungarian implementation of a SCforH intervention; [iii] the effectiveness of a coordinated action between the healthcare sector and local sports clubs to promote physical activity; [iv]; tracking participants in Jackpot.fit program—an Austrian sport promotion initiative; and [v] the development of a SCforH online learning tool. The registration for the HEPA Europe conference is now open.
